At VRTY, we’ve always been committed to pushing the boundaries of immersive storytelling in education. By making virtual reality (VR) and 360º creation accessible to schools and educational organisations worldwide, we’ve empowered educators and students to engage with learning in dynamic, interactive ways. Now, with the appointment of Hayden Brown as Global Education Manager, we’re embarking on an exciting new direction—one that goes beyond providing an exceptional platform for creation.
VRTY is now focused on building a comprehensive library of curriculum-aligned VR and 360º learning experiences, designed in collaboration with schools, industry leaders, and cultural institutions. This initiative will support educators in seamlessly integrating immersive technology into their teaching, providing students with more meaningful, engaging, and culturally relevant learning opportunities.
Meet Hayden Brown: A Leader in Immersive Education
With a strong background in education and immersive technology, Hayden Brown has spent his career pioneering digital learning innovations. His experience includes leading global education initiatives such as the Big History Project and working on Australia-based educational programs that explore new ways of engaging students. He has been at the forefront of integrating immersive technologies into classrooms, demonstrating that VR is more than just a tool for engagement—it is a transformative medium for learning and student expression.
Hayden’s appointment marks a significant milestone in VRTY’s journey to pioneer the use of VR as a primary text for learning. Through 360º interactive environments, students and educators can go beyond traditional lessons, exploring, creating, and interacting with knowledge in ways never before possible.
Bringing Real-World Learning to the Classroom
One of VRTY’s key goals under Hayden’s guidance is to develop structured, curriculum-aligned VR units that cater to a wide range of subjects and learning needs. By partnering with schools and industry experts, we’re working to create immersive experiences that:
· Enhance comprehension and engagement
· Support cultural and historical exploration
· Foster deeper connections between students and their subjects
· Encourage student-led content creation and storytelling
This direction builds upon Hayden’s work with Cygnet Bay Pearls and Indigenous communities in the West Kimberley region, where he leveraged immersive technology to preserve culture, deepen historical understanding, and provide students with interactive learning opportunities. Now, at VRTY, he aims to scale this impact globally.
Empowering Educators with Pedagogical Tools
A major focus of this initiative is supporting teachers with the right frameworks and resources to integrate VR effectively into their classrooms. By treating VR as a legitimate text for learning, students won’t just consume information—they’ll create and share their own immersive narratives. This approach:
· Encourages student creativity and critical thinking
· Provides hands-on, experiential learning opportunities
· Gives students in remote and marginalised communities access to high-quality education
VRTY’s commitment to equitable learning extends beyond traditional school settings. Through the VR4Good initiative—co-founded by Hayden—its mission is to support students in isolated and disadvantaged communities, ensuring they have access to the same immersive learning experiences as their peers. This work builds on Hayden’s recent experience at SIDE (School of Isolated and Distance Education), where he is focused on using VR and 360º to bridge the gap for students in regional and remote areas.
The Future of Immersive Learning with VRTY
Over the next few years, VRTY will collaborate with educators, researchers, and industry partners to create VR and and 360º experiences that address real-world challenges—from youth mental health and cultural preservation to environmental sustainability and skills based career opportunities. By building a community of contributors and thought leaders, we aim to reshape the future of immersive learning.
Our vision is clear:
· Students as creators, not just consumers
· VR and 360º as a core educational tool, not just an add-on
· Learning through experience, not just observation
This marks an exciting new chapter for VRTY—one where immersive technology becomes a fundamental part of education, empowering students to see, explore, and understand the world in entirely new ways.
Stay tuned as we continue to push the boundaries of immersive education—because the future of learning is not just about observing; it’s about experiencing, creating, and engaging like never before.
